Organic, Halal and Kosher Standards Certification and Requirements

Kosher certification permits companies to have an edge over their competitors and permits them to sell to more customers than previously and makes export opportunities that previously did not exist to them. It opens up the American market in exacting where Kosher is approximately a market pre-requisite in order to get ones products into the American market. In Israel it is a market necessity and we find that Europe is also following the trend in America so it is a very quick increasing marketplace. Kosher Certification is also taken out by many customers even if they are not selling into the kosher marketplace or to Jewish people as it is seen as a sign of quality and reassurance. Our customers will range from the large multinationals like Proctor & Gamble & Unilever right down to small companies and right across the world from the UK to Indonesia etc.

Kosher Standard for Food Processing

The Jewish religion incorporates within its tenets a regimen of dietary laws. These laws determine which foods are acceptable and conform to the Jewish Code. Kosher word is adaptation of the Hebrew word means “proper”, in terms of food; it means eatable food which meets dietary requirements. The laws of “Kosher” include a comprehensive legislation concerning permitted and forbidden foods. There are several aspects to these dietary rules. We will consider each aspect in turn.

Requirements of Kosher Certification

Kosher certification is one of the most significant steps you can take for your growing food business. It improves your capability to market your products and allows you to use our Logo to identify your product as kosher. It is of the highest kosher standard and is accepted by all sectors of the domestic market. It is not however appropriate for export purposes. If you need export certification please fill out the suitable application.

Kosher laws are more complex than they seem, mainly now that modern technology has come into play. Take for example, potato chips, which you’d think would be kosher since they aren’t made from foods forbidden by the Torah. Potato chips can essentially be considered non-kosher if they are fried in vegetable oil that was pasteurized and deodorized with equipment that has been used for tallow production.

According to the laws, the only types of meat that may be eaten are cattle and game that have “cloven hooves” and “chew the cud.” If an animal species fulfills only one of these conditions (for instance the pig, which has split hooves but does not chew the cud, or the camel, which chews the cud, but does not have split hooves), then its meat may not be eaten.

Examples of kosher animals in this category are bulls, lambs, springbok, cows, sheep, veal and goats.
